Kara Chan is a New York City based dancer and teaching artist, originally from Vancouver, Canada. She received her BFA from The Juilliard School, under the direction of Lawrence Rhodes, where she performed masterworks by José Limon, Murray Louis, Merce Cunningham, and Jerome Robbins. She is an alumna of Jacob’s Pillow Contemporary Program & Springboard Danse Montreal. Performance credits include Twyla Tharp Dance, Pam Tanowitz Dance, Lar Lubvovitch Dance Company (Artemis in Athens), Merce Cunningham Trust, Mark Morris Dance Group (The Hard Nut), Dance Heginbotham, Works & Process at The Guggenheim (Issac Mizrahi’s Peter & the Wolf), Barkin/Selissen Project, Gleich Dances, among others. Kara first appeared with JB&D in 2016. She was named one of Dance Magazine's “25 to Watch” for 2020. Kara is currently working with and touring in Justin Peck’s acclaimed musical theatre work Illinois. www.karachandance.com
